Community Outreach Makes Big Hit at Block Party

The Coding Comets were invited to participate in the Richland County Neighborhood Improvement Program’s Block Party on June 22, 2023. The 10th annual Forest Heights Community Plant Swap took place on Saturday, May 20th on the grounds of Haskell Heights First Baptist Church. The scattered rain showers that started at 9:30 am could not hold back these eager gardeners who showed up to swap their extra house plants, herbs, annuals, perennials, or shrubs and take home literally car loads of new treasures. From the onset of the season this team has been met with many obstacles, yet they rose to the challenge and emerged as the Rookie Team Award Winner in the Electric City Robotics Competition held in Anderson, South Carolina during the weekend of March 10-12, 2023. We traveled to Charleston on a sunny Saturday morning all clad in our brand new Robo Raiders t-shirts- hot off the press. Little did we know we'd return with a brand new identity. We humbly introduce Team 9315 Coding Comets. These eager teens are ready to explore the world of robotics as a collective group of inquisitive tinkerers.
Coding Comets on the Rise
January 21, 2023
On January 7, nine members of Team 9315 Coding Comets participated in the FIRST Robotics Kick-off held in North Charleston, South Carolina. Although the robotics team is just returning to the tournament after the pandemic, they are still considered a rookie team since none of the students have ever competed in the high school competition. FIRST equips the students with hands-on experience in coding, wiring, building, mechanics and other essential skills that would be invaluable for them in any engineering field. CLICK HERE TO READ
