Making Dreams Matter

Our Purpose

NoMa STEAM is a tax-exempt organization seeking to create equitable opportunities for underserved and underrepresented students in the areas of science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics. Our primary goal is to raise funds and gather resources to sustain programs that foster critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration and literacy skills for students we serve.

What We've Done

The students we support participate in a wide variety of after school programs that build important life skills.  They are future city planners, government officials, business leaders, architects, engineers, and so much more. They are scholars, athletes, musicians and mathematicians.  We support them in all that they do by chaperoning, putting in volunteer hours, networking and building partnerships to ensure these students are afforded the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Our volunteers, mentors and coaches collectively dedicate over 120 hours of service

to our programs each week.

What We Support

We support a range of academic and arts-focused extra-curricular activities offered to students attending  schools  along North Main Street in Columbia,  South Carolina. These activities encompass an array of skills that foster critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, collaboration and teamwork.  This organization is driven by a desire to provide resources that will break barriers that prevent these students from having access to resources available to others in schools in the  very same school district and beyond. We are change makers.

We are the parent organization for FRC Team 9315 Coding Comets, a community-based robotics team open to students in the north Columbia communities and schools.  In the fall 2023 we will be debuting our Lego League Explore team for elementary aged students in grades 2-4.  Email us at codingcomets9315@gmail.com for more information.
